As a piano teacher, I espouse this philosophy by being very student-led. Notation reading has a place in musical learning, but it should not be fostered at the expense of creativity and enjoyment. Lessons with me are very varied. I explore lots of different activities appropriate for different learning styles (audio, visual or kinaesthetic). My sensitivity and empathy help to reduce anxiety; even the most shy pupil can blossom.
